Not So Close
I've been slacking in posting full-size images, so I hope this one makes up for it.
The Mantis was in my way while weed-eating, so I relocated the critter to a bush, and I took numerous shots until I was satisfied one might come out good enough to post.

Thunderstorm at WCU
It is so hard to find a good vantage point to see a Thunderstorm...this time I got lucky and the storm came to me. All were shot by my Kodak Z710 as I tried to catch lightning strikes, but never could. The last photo is a frame grab from my video I took after I gave up trying to get a photo of a strike, it looks better smaller on my blog, eh?

Shelf Cloud
When this cloud went overhead, it reminded me of those ships from the V-Miniseries, which is in production for a 2008 miniseries as well!

Bridge Collapse
I tend to try to stay away from current events here, but today I make an exception, and will point you toward my coverage of the I-35W bridge collapse yesterday in Minnesota.

Surrender at Dixie Hall
I just discovered that i neglected to post the photos from May 12th on this blog, and will start correcting that huge mistake with the following photo from the re-enactment of the Surrender at Dixie Hall by the Thomas Legion.
Construction in Maggie Valley
I wonder what idiot at the North Carolina Department of Transportation decided to schedule construction for the summer? Especially with Ghost Town in the Sky re-opening.

Overturned and Crunched
Update:July 19th--I learned from a NC State Trooper this morning that the truck was carrying chicken guts...eeewwwww!
And I saw this wreck under the overpass near Wal-Mart in Clyde, NC. I edited the photo to protect the identity of the driver.

Thunder Shower
Photo Number 1
Photo Number 2
On my way into Macon County last night, I noticed a train of showers that were hitting the western and central parts of the county, moving from the southwest to just north of east.
Most of these were passing me to the south, and I got these before a larger cell hit me.
My ulterior motive was to get some lightning shots, but I had left my tripod at my last photo shhot in Maggie Valley.
