This house was about to slide off the mountain last year, and what did they do? They put a bunch of rocks on the side of the hill, truckload after truckload. Now, if the house slids off in the summer, the occupants will be eaten by snakes.
I finally got to get access to a fast connect, and uploaded the photos and video, but the local library in Franklin has now blocked access to uploading videos to You Tube, so I had to use my Photobucket Account for the videos.
The Cake and Punch
Opening Remarks
Congressman Heath Shuler listens to a constituent
The Congressman worked the room, and spoke with all those wishing to speak with him, and posed for photos. When most of the people had left, he had an opportunity to sample the fare that had been laid out.
During his visit, a plane came in, and you could tell who the aviation enthusists were, including one of Shuler's men, went out to watch the plane after it had disgorged it's passengers and takeoff.
I was allowed to pass because there were Adults with me!!!
Unloading Passengers
Awaiting clearance
The Takeoff had a weird resonance with my microphone.
One day last week, it was foggy until sometime in the afternoon, and I took this photo of a dew-drenched spider web on a grape vine just before I started work.
I saw this Blue Beetle crossing a logging road I was on while sharpening my chainsaw, and went over for a closer look. I believe the Beetle was sucking the juice from leaves. I unmercifully hounded the beetle as it crossed the road, and I think these are the best two photos.
Update: I couldn't resist, so I uploaded a short movie I took of the beetle in action. Sorry about the focus, the little digital camera wouldn't focus so close on movie mode.
I should know the name of this flower, but it escapes me for now. Photo taken two weeks ago in Haywood County. I have an incredible number of photos awaiting upload, but my internet connection currently does not like uploading files.
I witnessed an automobile accident today, and was lucky enough to have had prior training and experience to be able to render appropriate assistance to the elderly female in the maroon car. Many other witnesses also came to the aid of the other people in the pickup.
Within minutes, sheriff's deputies and First Responders were on scene, with EMS not far behind.
I am proud of the professionalism exhibited by the other good Samaritans on scene, and of the volunteer fire fighters, First Responders, and the EMS Personnel.
I took a few photos while I waited to be interviewed by the NC Highway Patrol after they had conducted their initial investigation of the scene.
The accident happened at the four-way intersection on Dellwood Road and 276. I travel the road everyday, but sadly, that's the best I can do. I have known it as the Dellwood Exxon Intersection for years. The pix...
The car that was T-Boned by the pickup.
This is where the truck ended up after flipping at least twice. (I wasn't exactly counting.)
Firefighters apply foam to the truck before righting it to safeguard against sparks igniting a fuel fire.
